The FC Vado (officially: Football Club Vado ) is an Italian football club from Vado Ligure , a town in the region Liguria . The club colors are red and blue. The club's stadium is the Stadio Ferruccio Chittolina in Vado Ligure, with space for 2,000 spectators.

history

The club, which was founded in 1913, went down in the history of Italian football for eternity when it caused a sensation at the first national cup competition in 1922 and thus won the first and so far only title win in club history. On the way to the final, the Genoese clubs Fiorente Genova and Molassana Genova as well as Juventus Italia Milano , Pro Livorno and Libertas Firenze were defeated. The final game in Genoa on July 16, 1922 was decided in favor of FC Vado. After no goals were scored in regular time, the Ligurian club scored the only goal in extra time and won the Coppa Italia by defeating Udinese Calcio . The scorer for the winning goal Virgilio Felice Levratto later went on the hunt for goals for CFC Genoa and Ambrosiana Inter, among others, and was also called up several times for the Italian national team .

After the club played in the regional amateur leagues in the early years, it was promoted to Serie C for the first time in 1932 . Eight years later, the team fell back into the amateur leagues. The club spent most of the following years in the Ligurian amateur leagues and could no longer build on the successes of the 1920s and 30s. In the 40s and 50s, a few more seasons followed in Serie C and then in the fourth highest division.

At the beginning of the new millennium, Vado took part in the game operations of the fifth-rate Serie D , but could not record any successes and fell back a few years later in the amateur section.

The 2007/08 season in Serie D was completed as the second last of the Girone A, which Vado had to go to the Eccellenza Liguria . A year later, the club also failed to stay in the sixth highest league stage and is active in the Promozione Liguria in the 2009/10 season .
