The FIA Intercontinental Drift Cup ( "FIA Intercontinental Drifting Cup" ) is an FIA drift championship .

history

Drifting has been a recognized official motor sport at the FIA ​​and national associations such as the DMSB since 2015 . From September 30th to October 1st 2017, the first Intercontinental Drift Cup took place in Odaiba , Tokyo . Competition format & rating

Up to 32 drivers can take part in the Intercontinental Drift Cup, there are two runs, the winner is determined by adding up the points from both runs. The qualification takes place as a solo drift, the drivers are judged by the judges and the best 16 come into the so-called "Championship Tournament Battle" in which the drivers drive the route twice, with each driver being the lead vehicle once and being allowed to be overtaken. Points are awarded for each duel, and the driver with the most points progresses one lap. So then in the knockout system a winner of the run determined.

Points for the evaluation of a drift are given by judges. The following criteria are included in the evaluation: the speed achieved, drift angle, choice of line and style.
