FIDIS
FIDIS (Future of Identity in the Information Society [FoIitIS]) (German: Future of Identity in the Information Society) was a five-year project as part of the 6th Research Framework Program . It lasted from 2004 to 2009.
target
The aim was to examine changes to which the term identity is subject in the dynamically developing European information society and to identify approaches and ways that achieve the smoothest possible European integration. The multinational and multidisciplinary network is intended to develop a better understanding of the contribution systems for identity management can make to the fair design of the European information society. It is important to take national differences into account. For example, an adult ID card is compulsory in Germany, but not yet common in the United Kingdom. The aim of FIDIS was to integrate European research into identity and identification technologies. The project deals with the related security and data protection aspects. In addition, the experts in this network develop legal, socio-economic and application-related requirements in connection with identity and identification.
Financing, project duration
The European Union is funding FIDIS as part of the sixth European research program Technologies for the Information Society. The project has been running since April 2004 for a period of five years and has a total funding of 6.1 million euros. In Germany, this NoE is managed by the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main .
