FIGO classification

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The FIGO classification is a system proposed by the Fédération Internationale de Gynécologie et d'Obstétrique (FIGO) for classifying gynecological tumors . It is used in gynecology alongside the TNM classification of malignant tumors.

The FIGO stages are defined as follows:

stage Finding
Stage 0 Carcinoma in situ
Stage I. Tumor limited to the original organ
Stage II The tumor has spread to the adjacent tissue
Stage III Expansion to the next organ
Stage IV Invasion of an adjacent organ, distant metastases

In the case of the various gynecological tumors, the FIGO stages are then subdivided a little more finely and specific classification criteria are established.
