The FI les Transferred over SH ell protocol one is protocol , which SSH or RSH used to allow file exchange and management between computers.

On the server side, only an SSH or RSH implementation, a shell and a few standard tools such as ls , cat or dd are required. As an option, a special FISH server program can execute the FISH commands instead of the shell and thus accelerate them.

The protocol was drafted in 1998 by Pavel Machek for the Midnight Commander .
