The FC Zenit Čáslav is a Czech football club from the city Čáslav .

history

A forerunner of the association was founded in 1902 when students from the local high school created a team called SK Stella Čáslav . In 1927 the SK Čáslav was established , which in 1949 merged with Slavoj Čáslav , who had been founded six years earlier, to form SK Kosmos Čáslav , named after the local Kosmos works.

After the Velvet Revolution in 1989, part of the Kosmos works was privatized as Zenit, the club subsequently changed its name to FC Zenit Čáslav and also merged with the city's second club, VTJ Čáslav . In the 1997/98 season, the team was promoted to the fourth-class Divize, in the 2003/04 season then promoted to the ČFL. Two years later, the team rose to the 2nd division .

In the 2008/09 season, the team trained by Miroslav Koubek reached second place in the second division, which would have entitled to promotion to the Gambrinus League . However, the license was sold to 1. FC Slovácko . The main reason for this decision was that the Pod Hrádkem stadium did not meet the criteria for the top division.
