Michal Horňák (born April 28, 1970 in Vsetín ) is a former Czech football player and today's coach .

Career

As a player

Horňák started at Zbrojovka Vsetín, at the age of 16 he moved to TJ Gottwaldov . In 1988 he was obliged by Sparta Prague and came in his first season in the 1st Czechoslovak League on five missions. For the next year and a half he played for RH Cheb as part of his military service . In early 1991 he returned to Sparta, for which he completed 234 games in eleven seasons, while the defender met 13 times.

Between 1995 and 1999 Horňák was also used 38 times in the Czech national team , he was in the squad for the 1996 European Championship in England.

In 2001, already past his zenith, he moved to LASK Linz in the second Austrian league. In the summer of 2003 he was signed by the SFC Opava , but the engagement there could not be described as successful. After only a year Horňák moved back to Austria , this time to third division club SV Horn . In the spring of 2005 he suffered an Achilles tendon injury and the contract was terminated. From 2005 to 2007 the vice European champion played from 1996 for the Czech fourth division club TJ Klatovy.

As a trainer

Horňák's first coaching station was FK Teplice , where he was assistant coach in spring 2007. In the second half of the 2007/08 season Horňák was head coach at the second division club FC Zenit Čáslav . Since July 2008 he has been assistant to the B-team at Sparta Prague.
