Polonija Vilnius ( Polish Polonia Wilno ) was a Lithuanian football club from Vilnius .

history

The association was founded in 1951 by members of the Polish minority in Lithuania . The greatest sporting success was the promotion to the first-class A Lyga in 1999. There they then managed to stay in the league once before they were relegated from bottom of the table. Between 2001 and 2005 you played five years in the second class 1 Lyga , where you won two championships. However, both times you did not move up to the first division, because at the time the number of first division clubs was reduced so that there were no promoters.

After the 2005 season you got the license withdrawn from Lietuvos Futbolo Federacija and had to relegate to the fourth division. After it took five years to get up to the third division again, they made it through to the second division.

In 2014 the club was dissolved due to financial problems.
