Lists on the subject

The FN FNS-9 is a semi-automatic pistol in the caliber of 9 × 19 mm with a polymer frame and internal firing pin. It is the latest development of the Belgian weapons manufacturer Fabrique Nationale Herstal in the field of semi-automatic pistols and a response to the success of other polymer frame pistols from various manufacturers, above all the Glock 17 , with which it shares many technical properties.

It has exchangeable grip elements for individual adjustment of the grip circumference. In addition, all operating elements (including the slide catch lever) are designed so that they are equally suitable for left-handed and right-handed users.

Five different safety systems prevent unwanted firing:

  • a fuse embedded in the trigger blade prevents the trigger from being pulled through unintentionally
  • a firing pin safety blocks this as long as the trigger is not pulled through
  • a safety catch prevents the shot from being fired in the event of a hard impact with the weapon
  • the “out-of-battery” fuse prevents it from being triggered if the slide is not completely closed
  • In contrast to other modern service pistols, the FNS-9 has a manual safety device
