Lists on the subject |
The FN HP-DA is a Belgian self-loading pistol manufactured by Fabrique Nationale Herstal . It is also sold as Browning HP-DA .
history
This model represents the further development of the widely used FN Browning HP . The previous model HP had been in production for almost 50 years before the modernization was completed. The main feature of the new HP-DA ( DA for Double Action ) is a clamping trigger, which the original version had previously lacked. In addition, the weapon has a release lever to bring the hammer safely into the starting position. The lever can be operated by both right-handed and left-handed people, and the magazine lock after a conversion. The firing pin of the pistol is blocked by a safety device until the trigger is fully depressed. This makes the weapon fall-proof.
commitment
The manufacturer planned to build on HP's commercial success, but this long overdue renewal came too late. The share of the lucrative market for modern service pistols remained small. The weapon was eliminated in the run-up to the tender for the United States Army's new service pistol . The British Army , which had the previous model as the L9A1 , also preferred another make. So far, only the Finnish armed forces have included the pistol in their equipment.
