FTSE / Athex Large Cap

The FTSE / Athex Large Cap (formerly FTSE / Athex 20, formerly FTSE / ASE 20) is a share index on the Athens Stock Exchange , which emerged from a partnership between the Athens Stock Exchange and the British index specialist FTSE Group International. The FTSE / Athex Large Cap is the share index of the 25 largest companies on the Athens Stock Exchange. The Greek economy is characterized by small and medium-sized companies, while large companies and corporations are few. Due to the industry imbalance, the FTSE / Athex Large Cap is one of the less diversified indices in Europe. The Bloomberg code is FTASE .

The financial services sector plays a major role in the FTSE / Athex Large Cap, as nine of the 25 values come from this sector and together make up around a third of the index. In addition to this dominant factor, the telecommunications and tourism industries are particularly well represented. The companies are weighted in the price index according to the free-float- adjusted market capitalization; there is no maximum value for the share of individual companies.

Another index of the Athens Stock Exchange is the Athex Composite Share Price Index , in which the 60 largest and best-selling companies in the country are listed.
