The Mytilineos Holdings SA ( Greek Μυτιληναίος Α.Ε. - Ομιλος Επιχειρήσεων , literally Mytilineos AG -Unternehmensgruppe ) is a Greek conglomerate in metallurgy and technology. The company is based in the Athens suburb of Maroussi . The company's shares are listed in the Athex Composite Share Price Index and the FTSE / Athex 20 on the Athens Stock Exchange .

Group structure

Mytilineos emerged in 1990 from an old family business of the same name, which had been active in the field of metallurgy since 1908 . The group's shares have been listed on the Athens Stock Exchange since 1995.

The group is divided into the following business areas (as of 2012):

  • Metal extraction, mining (Metallurgy & Mining)
  • Renewable Energies (Energy)
  • EPC plant construction
  • Vehicle Industry

Subsidiaries exist in Romania, Turkey, Syria and Pakistan.

With the acquisition of Aluminum de Grece in 2005, activities were expanded from metal extraction to industrial production. 2007 in cooperation with the Spanish energy company ENDESA the joint venture Endesa Hellas founded. In particular, it serves to expand the activities in the field of electricity generation that began in 2001 to include fields of renewable energies (wind power, water power and photovoltaics).

The group is also the owner of the Sometra lead smelter in Copşa Mică (German Kleinkopisch, Hungarian Kiskapus), a small town in Transylvania , Romania , which was considered the largest polluter in Europe but has been closed since 2008.
