The FV Ötigheim 1919 eV is a German football club based in Baden-Wuerttemberg Municipality Ötigheim in the district of Rastatt .

history

Founded until World War II

The club was founded on August 28, 1919, shortly afterwards it joined the Baden Football Association. In autumn 1919 the club started in the C-class. On November 24, 1921, the footballers of the pre-existing DJK also joined the club. In terms of sport, the first season was followed by promotion to the B-Class. In 1923 the team was already playing in the A-class. For the 1928/29 season, the championship in the southern Baden district was achieved for the first time. The promotion to the district league South Baden then succeeded a year later.

By restructuring the divisions, the team ended up in the Murg district league for the 1930/31 season. In the following years, the class could then be kept, albeit with varying degrees of success. However, with the outbreak of World War II , the situation worsened. In the 1939/40 season the team still played the championship in the district class A, so on June 10, 1941, the game had to be completely stopped.

post war period

After the end of the war, gaming operations would continue into the first few months of 1947. Now the gymnastics community Germania Ötigheim and the FV had to merge as a new sports club. In this way, gaming operations could then be resumed. In the 1948/49 season, the championship in the District League North was also successful again. From the 1949/50 season, the club then played in the Baden-Baden district league. There they won the championship on the last day of the season after a 47-0 win against FV Elchesheim , ahead of Durmersheim , who had previously been in first place . However, this game was subsequently canceled and Durmersheim was declared champion.

Promotion to the amateur league

For the next season the newly created 2nd amateur league continued. On December 7, 1950, the Ötigheim sports club was also dissolved, making the football club independent again. After almost ten years in the league, the team had to relegate to the A-class after the 1958/59 season. The rise should then be achieved with 47:13 points after the 1960/61 season. After the 1962/63 season, they even managed to get promoted to the third-class 1st amateur league at the time.

In the first season , with 20:40 points, they just managed to stay in the league. The next seasons were always changeable, the best placement finally came after the 1966/67 season with 34:26 points in sixth place. After this good placement, however, the club had to relegate again with only 25:35 points at the end of the following season . For the 1972/73 season , with Manfred Paul as coach, the promotion was again successful and they even managed to position themselves in third place with 40:20 points. If a good fifth place could be achieved in the next season, then in the 1974/75 season it was only enough with 25:51 points for 18th place, which meant that the team had to relegate to the district league.

Troubled waters in the 1990s

After a long period of time without much changes, a new team succeeded in the 1981/82 season with 44:16 points to win the championship and to rise to the national league. It was never easy there and the team always switched between secured midfield and relegation battle. After a coach change, the club had to relegate to the district league after the 1987/88 season. After a brief slide into the district league A, the team quickly recovered and managed to march through to the state league by the 1992/93 season. Some time later, however, there should be relegation again, after which the team even had to partially play in the district league B.

Return to the district league

After the 2003/04 season, the championship in the district league A succeeded with 65 points. However, the team should have been relegated again immediately with 30 points over the 14th place from the district league, but the team was then also allowed in the next season play in the same league. There the class could easily be held with 49 points over the sixth place. After the 2008/09 season, however, it was finally down to relegation with only 12 points over 17th place. Back in the district league A, however, the team had little to do with the promotion in the following season.

In the following years, the team established itself in the midfield of the district league A. However, it got better from season to season and so after the 2017/18 season finally won the championship with 74 points and thus returned after almost ten years the district league. The club still plays there to this day.
