The FV 1903 Ladenburg eV is a German football club based in the Baden-Württemberg city of Ladenburg in the Rhein-Neckar district .

Predecessor clubs

On March 13th 1903 the FC 03 Ladenburg and the FG Union 03 Ladeburg were founded . In the following years, the two clubs only played locally against other teams from clubs founded at the time. In 1910 the FC and the FG merged to form Sportfreunde 03 Ladenburg . Due to the outbreak of the First World War, many members became soldiers; due to the lack of players, gaming operations were then completely stopped from 1917 to 1918.

After the end of the war, the lost members then merged with the TG Jahn Ladenburg around 1920 . A football department was then to be founded in this club in 1921 . This department became independent again a year later, from then on the association was called FV 03 Ladenburg .

history

World War II and post-war period

Not much is known about the game after it was founded, there were quite remarkable performances in the cup , but the team was unable to qualify for the final. From the outbreak of World War II, 90% of the members were in military service. From then on it should be possible to keep the game going until 1943.

After the end of the war it was possible to move up to the 2nd amateur league in 1946/47, after a restructuring of the squadrons, however, the relegation to the A-class had to be accepted again in 1948. In 1950 the club split up into footballers and the new SV 50 Ladenburg. 1952 finally succeeded again in promotion to the 2nd amateur league . With 27:29 points, the 11th place in season 2 was able to be achieved and the class was thus maintained. For the next season, the FV switched to Season 1 and was able to win the runner-up title with 37:15 points. For this season, SV 50 also rose to the 2nd amateur league, where they also took second place in season 2 with 36:16 points . From the 1954/55 season both clubs should play in Season 1. The FV 03 came in eighth place with 28:24, the SV 50 even in sixth place with 29:23. In the coming seasons it happened again and again that both clubs should play in one season, but this division also changed almost every season. The time together should then end after the 1960/61 season, in which the SV 50 had to relegate again with 21:31 points. The FV 03 could easily hold the league with 24:28 points.

Promotion to the 1st amateur league in North Baden

With the runner-up title, the club was able to qualify for the first time for the promotion round to the 1st amateur league after the 1967/68 season. There, however, the team did not get past fourth place with 5:11 points, which should not be enough for promotion. After the 1968/69 season there was even a direct relegation with 16:44 points. The resurgence should then only succeed again in the 1973/74 season, here the team then placed eighth in season 2 with 30:30 points. After the next season, the championship in the 2nd amateur league was achieved for the first time Promotion relegation failed, however, after a return game at SC Germania Mönchzell . The championship title could then be retracted again after the 1975/76 season, this time the team prevailed in the relegation against SV Wertheim and was finally promoted to the then third-class 1st amateur league. The Ladenburgers were only able to stay there for one season , however, with 14:46 points, they went straight back down over the last place in the table.

Short return to the Association League North Baden

For the 1977/78 season, the 2nd amateur league then became the Rhein-Neckar regional league, in which the team was even able to directly return to third place with 43:29 points. With 44:16 points, the championship succeeded here again after the 1980/81 season. This allowed the club to return to the now fourth-class Nordbaden Association for the next season . With 29:31 points the class could be held there. After the 1983/84 season, however, the team had to relegate back to the national league with 24:36 points over 14th place.

Decline to the B-Class and re-ascents

In the regional league they placed eighth in the following season with 28:32 points. After the 1987/88 season it was also over here and the FV had to relegate again with only 5:55 points over the last place in the table. This time in the district league. A year later, there was another descent to the A-Class. The club was able to stay there until 1992, after which it went further down to the B-class. In 1995, however, the championship was again successful and with it the return to the A-Class. In 1997 he even managed to return to the district league, in which, however, one could not hold himself and had to be relegated immediately. Already after the next season, however, surprisingly succeeded in being promoted back to the district league.

Current time

For the 2004/05 season, the district league became the Mannheim district league after structural reform. Here the club was able to hold up until the 2013/14 season and then had to relegate to district A with 30 points over 14th place . With 59 points, however, the team placed second and was allowed to participate in a promotion relegation, in which the club could not prevail in the end. After the 2016/17 season, the championship finally succeeded with 61 points and the club was allowed to rise again. Back in the district league, however, it went straight back down with just 28 points over 14th place. After another championship, immediately after the next season with 67 points, he was immediately promoted again. Thus, the club still plays in the Mannheim district league today.
