Fabchannel.com

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Fabchannel.com was a Dutch company that had set up a website to provide hitherto unknown artists from the country with a platform on which to present themselves.

The project was started in 2000 by Justin Kniest in cooperation with the Internet provider XS4ALL and the television producer Dutchview . Performances in Amsterdam cultural centers such as Paradiso or Melkweg were streamed from Amsterdam .

With more than 1000 concerts, performances, debates and readings, the portal was the largest provider of freely available concert recordings on the Internet worldwide. Over 20,000 visitors were registered every day. The site was also awarded several prizes.

On April 3, 2007 it was announced that the portal would set up its own channel at Joost under the name “The Best of Fab” . The best excerpts from concerts should be broadcast there.

Fabchannel.com ceased operations on March 13, 2009 due to declining budgets in the advertising and sponsorship market.
