Faber & Faber was a German publisher based in Leipzig .

history

The Faber & Faber Verlag GmbH was founded in 1990 by Elmar Faber and his son Michael Faber in Berlin founded and is one of the existing since 1983 Sisyphus Press , the press prints , art books, works of fiction in biblophiler facilities and original artwork moved. The first Faber & Faber publishing program in 1991 comprised six titles. The early years were mainly focused on expanding the bibliophile program. Since the Leipzig Book Fair in 1994, the program and production have been managed by a publishing office in Leipzig. In July 1995, the publishing house gave up its Berlin headquarters and settled completely in Leipzig - a "sign against the bleeding of what was once the most important German publishing location".

The publisher published around 15 new publications annually, the backlist comprised around 100 titles.

In January 2011, the publisher's founder Elmar Faber announced that the publisher is temporarily ceasing its work and that, for reasons of age, he will end his active publishing activities at the end of March. The publisher should remain in family ownership and possibly be continued later.

At the beginning of 2019, Michael Faber announced that the publisher would start working again.
