Fabian Giesder

Fabian Giesder (born July 17, 1983 in Meiningen ) is a German SPD politician and mayor of the city of Meiningen in Thuringia .

Life

Giesder attended the Henfling-Gymnasium Meiningen until 2002 and then the Free University of Berlin , which he left in 2006. Fabian Giesder is in a partnership, has a daughter and lives in Meiningen .

Career

Giesder has held the office of chairman of the SPD Meiningen since 2005, and from 2009 he also chaired the SPD parliamentary group in the Meiningen city council. From 2006 to 2012 he was office manager in the constituency office of the Meiningen SPD representative in the Thuringian state parliament . Giesder was also a member of the Schmalkalden-Meiningen district council .

In the local elections in Thuringia 2012, Giesder ran as mayor candidate in Meiningen for the SPD . With 53.4% ​​of the valid votes cast, he was elected mayor of the city of Meiningen in the runoff election.

In the course of the local elections in 2018, Giesder prevailed in the first ballot with 79.48% of the valid votes cast against competitors Thomas Fickel (CDU) and Enrico Schaarschmidt (FDP) and was thus confirmed in his office.
