Fabio Bruno Baviera (born March 7, 1992 in Zurich ) is a former Swiss handball player . The 1.91 m tall circle player last played for the Swiss club GC Amicitia Zurich . He was also inducted into the Handball Hall of Fame in 2019.
Club career
After Fabio Baviera had passed through the junior division of GC Amicitia Zurich (GAN Foxes), he played one season in the NLB team of the Grasshopper Club Zurich. For the 2010/11 season he moved to the Kadetten Schaffhausen . There he made his first appearances in the NLA and in the EHF Champions League . For the 2011/12 season, Fabio Baviera was loaned out by Kadetten Schaffhausen to league rivals HC Kriens-Luzern in order to gain more match practice in the NLA. From the 2013/14 season he was under contract with HC Kriens-Luzern. He ended his career in October 2017. For the playouts of the 2018/19 season he was reactivated by GC Amicitia Zurich and helped the team to maintain the league.
National team
Junior national team
Fabio Baviera has been in the core squad of the Swiss junior national team since the U17. He was currently one of the top performers in the U19 national team and scored 138 goals in 49 international matches. In Switzerland's U21 national team, Fabio Baviera made 44 appearances (95 goals).
A national team
In January 2010, Fabio Baviera traveled with the senior national team to qualify for the World Cup in Cyprus. However, it has not yet been used there. On June 8, 2012, he was used for the first time in the national team. In 2015 Fabio Baviera traveled to South Korea to attend the Universiade with a selection of students. There he brought in Dr. Rolf Brack and Michael Suter the bronze medal.
