De Crignis drove in the 1989/90 season in the European Cup races and finished second in the slalom discipline. He was then accepted into the Italian national ski team, of which he belonged for the following seven years. He achieved his first countable result in the World Cup on August 8, 1990, when he finished fourth in the slalom on Mount Hutt in New Zealand (World Cup points were only awarded to the top 15 at that time). Seven months later, on March 10, 1991, he finished third in Aspen . In the following years, however, he only achieved a few top 10 placements, which is why he was increasingly used in the European Cup.
In the winter of 1994/94 De Crignis took third place in the European Cup slalom ranking, and in the following season, second place. On November 26, 1995, he finished third in the Park City World Cup slalom , which was immediately the last podium finish in his career. De Crignis took part in the 1992 Winter Olympics, but retired in the second round of the slalom. His only result at World Championships in 1997 was 20th place. After moderate performance in the 1996/97 season, he resigned from top-class sport.
