application

In image processing and video editing , technologies such as morphing are used to achieve a face swap. This can be, for example, a parody of two personalities or a funny montage to be published on the Internet .

There is also the possibility of exchanging faces using algorithms. Applications that use a webcam or cell phone camera use such functions for entertainment purposes. The swap is displayed on the screen and can usually be transmitted live or as a photo or video. The face recognition determines individual pixels of the people. The best-known example is the mobile app Snapchat .

If artificial intelligence (e.g. DeepFaceLab ) is used to generate such forgeries, it is also referred to as deepfake . Even if these pictures are not real, applicable rights such as personal rights must also be taken into account when they are distributed .
