The Facel Vega Facel III (type FB ) was a sports car that the French car manufacturer Facel SA built from 1963 to 1964.
The model was developed as the successor to the Facellia in order to respond to the criticism of the first examples of this model, which were plagued by engine damage, and to give customers confidence in terms of the reliability of the engine.
The car was presented to the trade press in April 1963 and was immediately available for sale.
description
This model was equipped with the four-cylinder in-line engine of the Volvo P1800 with 1780 cm³ displacement. The Volvo B18 engine in the Facel III developed 108 hp (79 kW) and was coupled with a four-speed gearbox from the same company, which could also be supplied with overdrive if required. The chassis, steering and braking system corresponded to the previous model, Facellia.
The car looked very similar to its predecessor, the Facellia F2: You could see this from the main headlights supplied by Marchal-Mégalux and from the dashboard clad in imitation wood. In contrast, the car received a grille in the style of the Facel II , the rear fenders were smoothed, the trunk lid rounded and the taillights circular. The seats were covered with synthetic leather or, if desired, in real leather.
The Facel III was built 624 times, 192 of them as a convertible. The successor was the Facel 6 , a six-cylinder version of the Facel III.
