The Facel Vega Facel 6 (type F6 ) was a sports car that the French car manufacturer Facel SA built in 1964.
It was the last model of the brand and should fill the gap between the Facel II with eight-cylinder engine and the Facel III with four-cylinder engine.
The car was presented to the trade press in May 1964, but was not delivered until the beginning of September that year.
description
The Facel 6 was equipped with the straight six-cylinder engine of the Austin-Healey 3000 , the displacement of which, however, had been reduced to 2852 cm³. In the Facel 6 it developed 150 hp (110 kW). There were two different gearboxes for buyers to choose from: one from BMC with overdrive and one from Société Pont-à-Mousson . Both versions reached a top speed of 195 km / h.
The Facel 6 looked very similar to the Facel III, but the more voluminous engine required a more pronounced bulge in the bonnet and a larger front overhang.
The chassis was taken over by the Facel III and the brake system received a booster and Dunlop - disc brakes on all four wheels.
The seats were covered with leather as standard, and the wood / aluminum steering wheel from Nardi was also standard .
Up to October 1964, 32 units were produced, including 25 coupés and 7 convertibles.
epilogue
The Facel III and Facel 6 models could not make buyers forget the annoyance about the engines of their predecessor Facellia . Production was therefore finally stopped at the end of October 1964. A planned version with a V6 engine was not produced.
