Nardi-Personal SpA , formerly Nardi & Danese and Officine Nardi & C. , is an Italian manufacturer of car accessories in Turin, which also built sports and racing cars until 1957. The company's founders were former racing driver and engineer Enrico Nardi (1907–1966) and Renato Danese.

Development of the company

Nardi worked for Lancia from 1929 to 1937 and then for Ferrari before setting up on his own in 1946. In 1932, together with Augusto Monaco, he built the Nardi-Monaco Chichibio, a single-seater with a 1000 cc motorcycle engine from JAP that developed 65 hp at 5400 rpm, and a five-speed gearbox. The maximum speed is said to have been 180 km / h.

Augusto Monaco was also involved in the design of the small sports cars with BMW, Lancia and Fiat engines that Nardi brought out in the late 1940s. A Formula 2 monoposto and a record car were added to these sports cars in 1951. An unusual vehicle in 1955 was the Bisiluro (two torpedoes) with a 750 cc engine developed for the Le Mans 24 Hours . The car did not achieve success; Driver Mario Damonte had an accident after just six laps of the race. In 1957, Nardi stopped manufacturing automobiles and from then on concentrated on the manufacture of accessories, especially steering wheels. The best-known product is the Nardi steering wheel with a wooden rim, aluminum spokes and the lettering E. Nardi .

On March 1, 2005, Lorenzo Cerofolini took over the company, which in the meantime traded under the name Nardi-Personal SpA and will continue to operate under this name.
