Officina Meccanica della Stanga was an Italian manufacturer of automobiles .
Company history
The brothers Gianfranco, Sandro and Camillo Stanga founded the automobile production company in Manerbio in 1949 . The brand name was Stanga . Production ended in 1956. According to two sources, seven vehicles were built.
A connection to the tram and bus manufacturer with the similar name Officine Meccaniche della Stanga from Padua is not known.
vehicles
The company manufactured small sports cars on a Fiat basis. Four-cylinder engines with two overhead camshafts from Giannini were used in many vehicles . The displacement was 750 cm³. But there were also smaller engines with a capacity of 600 cc available. A single vehicle received an eight-cylinder engine from the Fiat 8V and a coupé body from Carrozzeria Motto . One source indicates that tubular frame of Gilco design formed the basis.
Races
The vehicles were used in the Mille Miglia in 1950 , 1951 , 1953 and 1957 .
