Officine Stampaggi Industriali SpA was an Italian manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

vehicles

Initially, various bodies were created for models from Alfa Romeo , Fiat and Innocenti . These included the Alfa Romeo 2600 Berlina de Luxe , the Fiat 2300 S Coupé , the Fiat 1300 Kombi , the Fiat 1500 Kombi and the Innocenti Spider . The first vehicle marketed as OSI appeared in 1963 as the OSI 1200 S. This was a convertible based on the Fiat 1100 , with four-cylinder engine , 1221 cc displacement and 58 hp power. The most built model was the Ford Anglia Torino 105E with around 10,000 pieces. The OSI-Ford 20 M TS is also known , of which approx. 2,200 or approx. 3,500 copies were made, depending on the source. The coupé was presented at the Geneva Motor Show in 1966. It was based on the Ford 20M . Production ended in 1968. The spectacular prototype Bisiluro Silver Fox attracted a lot of attention to the company at the Turin Motor Show in 1967, but it could not stop the company's decline.

Automotive designers working for OSI

Several well-known automotive designers have worked for OSI during the course of its existence, partly as employees, partly on a freelance basis, including Virgil Max Exner jr. , Tom Tjaarda , Giovanni Michelotti , Giorgio Batistella , Sergio Coggiola , Sergio Sartorelli , Werner Hölbl and Paul Breuer .

Another person who was repeatedly in contact with OSI was Pietro Sibona, who was co-owner of Carrozzeria Sibona-Basano from 1962 to the end of 1966 : in the early 1960s he worked as a master for metalworking and processing at Ghia, where he held several Supervised prototypes, which then went into series production at OSI; At the end of 1966 he gave up his freelance work and, at the suggestion of Sergio Sartorelli, moved to the Centro Stile e Esperienze, which has meanwhile been created by OSI, as head of the prototype workshop .
