Fontauto Srl is an Italian manufacturer of automobiles .
Company history
Giovanni Fontana founded a body shop called Giovanni Fontana & C. in 1915 in Borgo San Dalmazzo . His sons Attilio and Romano reorganized the company in 1962, called it Fontauto snc and specialized in the conversion of passenger and commercial vehicles into armored vehicles. Between 1971 and 1972 several independent automobiles with the brand name Fontauto were built . In 1979 the company name was changed to Industrie Fontauto SpA. In the meantime, two other sons of Giovanni Fontana, Mario and Giuseppe, had joined the company. Today the company is called Fontauto Srl based in Boves and continues to manufacture armored vehicles.
Standalone vehicles
The only model Hobbycar was presented at the Turin Motor Show in 1971 . This was a buggy on the chassis of the VW Beetle . In contrast to many other buggies, brand new mechanical parts were used. Production of this model ended in 1972.
