Specialist lawyer for insurance law

The title of specialist lawyer for insurance law is a specialist lawyer designation of the German professional law of lawyers .

The designation of specialist lawyer for insurance law was introduced by the 2nd assembly meeting of the Federal Bar Association at its 6th meeting on March 20, 2003.

Legal areas of training

In terms of content, the title is defined by the areas of law named in Section 14a of the Specialized Lawyers' Ordinance (FAO), in relation to which the lawyer holding the specialist lawyer title must prove special knowledge. Specifically, § 14a FAO names the following areas of law for insurance law:

In order to acquire the title of specialist lawyer for insurance law, as with all specialist lawyer titles, proof of particular practical experience is also required. Here, § 5 S. 1 lit. h FAO proof of 80 cases dealt with by the applicant, of which at least 10 are judicial cases that must relate to at least three of the areas of law named in § 14 FAO. There must also be at least five cases in each of these three areas of law.
