Skilled worker for glass technology was the valid training designation for the skilled worker occupation with two years of training in the German Democratic Republic (GDR) from 1977 to 1986.

Training was given for activities in the glass industry . Skilled workers for glass technology made various glass products from glass mass, such as glasses, bottles, light bulbs, glass blocks, glass fibers, lenses or prisms. They operated and monitored both systems for melting and forming the raw glass as well as machines for finishing the end products.

Skilled workers for glass technology specializing in the further processing of flat glass separated, melted and cut flat glass products such as window glass, single-pane and multi-pane safety glass, facade glass or ornamental glass and reshaped or coated them. For this purpose, automated machines were used to operate, control and monitor them.
