Glass refiner

The glass finisher is a state-recognized training occupation in Germany according to the Vocational Training Act and the Crafts Code .

Duration of training and structure

The training period to become a glass finisher is usually three years. The training takes place at the training company and vocational school . The profession has three specialties :

  • Edge and surface finishing,
  • Cut and engraving as well
  • Stained glass and art glazing.

Work areas

Glass refiners use chemical and mechanical techniques to refine glass and glass products. They process and process glass and glass products by sawing, drilling, grinding and polishing. You create drafts and ornaments, decors as well as fonts and monograms. History of origin

With the modernization of the existing training regulations from 1989, new technologies and manufacturing processes were included in the training regulations in 2004, e.g. B. Melting, gluing and joining techniques. The structure of the disciplines has been redesigned. The new training regulations also included content from the glass painter and the glass and porcelain painter.
