Specialized bibliography

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The specialist bibliography is a bibliography that only contains publications in a specific subject, e.g. B. of a scientific subject or sub-area thereof.

The terms thematic bibliography or special bibliography are used for bibliographies of interdisciplinary or narrowly limited subject areas . Often, specialist bibliographies, as so-called title bibliographies, only contain the title and possibly an annotation (description of the content). Specialized bibliographies usually contain a selection of dependent and international specialist literature.

Printed specialist bibliographies are divided into closed , also retrospective , specialist bibliographies, which contain the specialist literature for a larger, but already closed period of time, as well as ongoing , also periodic , specialist bibliographies, which regularly display important published new publications and because of their topicality for science and research and practice are of greater importance.

The topicality is particularly important for scientific work. If bibliographies are referenced in academic papers (e.g. doctoral theses, master's theses, bachelor theses), then - in addition to basic bibliographies, which may also be older - ensure that the data is as up-to-date as possible.
