Fahrental
Fahrental (formerly also called Farental ) is a desert between Tauberbischofsheim and its district Impfingen in the Main-Tauber district in Baden-Württemberg .
history
The settlement in the Fahrentalsgraben was first mentioned in a document by the Fulda monk Eberhard in the 12th century . He reported on the beginnings of his monastery and mentioned that Charlemagne donated the Holzkirchen monastery with the associated properties to the Fulda Abbey in 775. As one of 26 named places he also performed “Farental”.
When the town of Fahrental finally disappeared, its last inhabitants moved to the nearby Impfingen. Therefore Impfingen is one of the few places in southern Germany that has two village saints. On the one hand the village saint St. Nikolaus, on the other hand the village saint St. Jakobus (see also the Jakobusbrunnen with Jakobus statue on the "map", the old town center) as the second local patron, who was added to the village together with the residents of the abandoned settlement Fahrental .
