The Fair Friend Group (FFG) is a Taiwanese group of companies whose core is the Fair Friend Enterprise Company Limited.

history

The group of companies was founded in 1979 and initially served as the exclusive commercial agency for Japanese Kobelco construction machines in Taiwan. In 1984 the machine tool manufacturers Lien-Fong and Feeler were taken over, whereby FFG rose from a simple dealer to a producer. The newly acquired companies were incorporated into the specially founded machine tool division in 1985 . In the course of a joint venture with the Japanese RYOBI group, the product portfolio was expanded to include door closers in 1986 . The growth through joint ventures with foreign partner companies continued in 1988 and 1989, when a production of ball bearing housings and electrical components was established together with SKF and the production of painting tools was started with the Iwata Air Compressor Manufacturing Company . In 1989, another joint company was founded with SKF, which manufactured CNC machine tools. In the following years, other products such as elevators, equipment for parking garages or forklifts were also added to the product range. The group succeeded in entering the German market mainly through the acquisition of the traditional German machine builders Hüller Hille , Hessapp, Modul, Witzig & Frank and VDF Boehringer, all of which were taken over by MAG IAS in 2013. MAG IAS was completely taken over in 2015. At the important EMO 2015 trade fair in Milan, FFG was the largest exhibitor in terms of the space it occupied. In 2017, Hüller Hille was resold by the acquired manufacturers to Zuse Holding GmbH, which is controlled from Hong Kong, after the prospect of a plant closure was announced due to bad business. In the same year, FFG concluded a cooperation with Siemens , which provided for the integration of Siemens technology in FFG machine tools. Today the group consists of three divisions.

Machine tool division

The machine tool division of FFG describes itself as the largest machine tool group in the world and comprises 37 independent brands. In particular, the German brands came to FFG through the first partial and later complete takeover of the machine tool manufacturer MAG IAS between 2013 and 2015. The entire brand family includes:

  • Feeler (Taiwan)
  • Hangzhou Good Friend (China)
  • Meccanodora (Italy)
  • Sachman (Italy)
  • Hessapp (Germany)
  • Module (Germany)
  • Witzig & Frank (Germany)
