history

In 2005 the Metal Cutting Group of ThyssenKrupp with the traditional mechanical engineering companies Cross Hüller, Hessapp, Hüller Hille and Witzig & Frank was integrated into the business segment of MAG Industrial Automation Systems of the investment and operations management company Maxcor Inc. In 2009 the name was changed to MAG Powertrain GmbH, which merged with the also acquired companies Honsberg, Ex-Cell-O and Boehringer in 2010 to form MAG IAS GmbH.

Production at Cross Hüller's headquarters in Ludwigsburg was closed at the end of 2008 . In the same year, MAG CORCOM GmbH was founded in Rottenburg for the new Core Components business area. In 2009 Witzig & Frank in Offenburg was closed.

In 2012, MAG Europe generated EBIT before special items of EUR 16.2 million in its operating business in 2012 , after a loss of EUR 30 million in 2011. Due to costs for the corporate restructuring, there was a total loss of 15.2 million . Euro. Sales rose to a record EUR 684 million.

The owner of MAG Europe GmbH was Mo Meidar , who is also the founder and CEO of Maxcor Inc. After the financing banks lost their trust in him, his shares were transferred to a trust model in 2011. Rolf Rickmeyer became chairman of the management board. The American part of MAG was sold to the French company Fives in March 2013. The European part should also be sold. Talks were held with the Chinese company Sinomach. Finally, in June 2013, a new financing concept was worked out with the banks, so that the company remained in the possession of Mo Meidar.

In May 2013, the group announced that MAG Europe GmbH would be renamed MAG IAS GmbH after the merger of MAG IAS GmbH and Chemnitz-based MAG Modul Verzahntechnik GmbH. In December 2013, the company sold the Industrial Equipment division to the Taiwanese Fair Friend Group (FFG) because it wanted to concentrate more on the automotive industry. This area comprised 600 employees and with a turnover of 120 million euros contributed 24 percent to the GmbH turnover.

In 2014, the part of the production of new machines located in Göppingen completely moved to Eislingen. The areas of retrofit (modernization / expansion of machines) and site machine business (refinement of machines) remained in Göppingen .

On November 17, 2014, the former Daimler manager Rainer Schmückle replaced Meidar as managing director. In June 2015 he was replaced by the former CFO Reiner Beutel. On June 17, 2015, it was announced that MAG will be fully taken over by the Fair Friend Group.
