Coordinates: 33 ° 52 ′ S , 150 ° 55 ′ E Fairfield City is a local government area (LGA) in the Australian state of New South Wales . Fairfield belongs to the metropolis of Sydney , the capital of New South Wales. The area is 101.5 km² and has about 199,000 inhabitants.
Fairfield is located approximately 18 miles west of Sydney city center south of Prospect Reservoir. The area includes 35 districts: Abbotsbury, Bonnyrigg, Bonnyrigg Heights, Bossley Park, Cabramatta, Cabramatta Heights, Cabramatta West, Cabravale, Canley Heights, Canley Vale, Carramar, Edensor Park, Fairfield, Fairfield East, Fairfield Heights, Fairfield West, Fairvale, Greenfield Park, Hollywood, Horsley Park, Lansvale, Lansvale East, Prairiewood, Smithfield West, St Johns Park, Wakeley, Wetherill Park and parts of Cecil Park, Guildford, Guildford North, Mount Pritchard, Old Guildford, Smithfield, Villawood and Yennora. The council's administrative headquarters are in the Wakeley district in the center of the LGA.

The Fairfield City Council has 13 members who are elected by LGA residents. Four members each come from the three wards Fairfield, Cabravale and Parks, the chairman and mayor is also elected by all residents of the LGA. The three electoral districts are determined independently of the districts.
