Fairline Boats Ltd. is a British shipbuilder based in Oundle on the Nene in Northamptonshire . Every year around 300 motor yachts are built in both Oundle and Corby and sold worldwide.

history

The company was founded in 1963 by Jack Newington. He had bought a former gravel pit on the Nene, where he built the company premises. Five years later, in 1967, Newington was able to present its first boat. It was a handcrafted 19-foot river cruiser.

In 1971 his son, Sam Newington, took over the company. Under his leadership, a global sales organization was built up and a profit was also made for the first time. By 1979 the number of employees had grown to 140. Sales in the same year were £ 5 million .

In 2002 the company's ten thousandth boat was built. A management buyout followed on May 31, 2005, which separated the company from the Renwick Group . It cost 59.17 million euros. In 2006, Fairline was taken over by the London-based financial investor 3i .
