Ranunculus creticus is a plant type from the family of the buttercup family (Ranunculaceae).

description

Ranunculus creticus is a stately, perennial stem hemicryptophyte that reaches heights of 20 to 60 centimeters. The basal sheets are kidney to circular, 80 to 150 millimeters wide and lobed on a quarter to half the width. The sections touch or overlap. 5 to 15 flowers are formed. The crown measures 15 to 20 millimeters. The fruit heads are 12 to 15 millimeters in size. The nuts are 3 millimeters in size, oval to circular, flat and have a membranous wing. Its beak is curled up and 1.5 millimeters in size.

The flowering period extends from April to June.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 16.

Occurrence

Ranunculus creticus occurs in the Aegean region. In Crete, the species is mainly found in gorges at altitudes from 0 to 1300 meters, where it grows on rocks and in shady rock corridors.
