The Falkenberg (also used in the plural form Falkenberge , colloquially called Buntzelberg ) is an elevation in the Berlin district of Treptow-Köpenick . The highest point is 59.6 meters high.
The mountain is the namesake of the nearby garden city Falkenberg and has nothing to do with Falkenberg , a district in the Lichtenberg district .
location
The hill is located in the north of the district of Bohnsdorf north of Buntzelstraße, around one kilometer northeast of the center of Bohnsdorf, not far from the border with the districts of Altglienicke and Grünau . It is of natural origin and part of the Teltow plateau , which descends north of the Falkenberg towards the Berlin glacial valley. The Falkenberg Vorwerk north of the hill is shown on maps from the end of the 19th century . At that time, the horticultural director Max Buntzel bought land on the mountain and had a castle-like property built there, which was also known as the Buntzelschlößchen . After a few years, Buntzel had to sell the area again, and the Hedwigshöhe Hospital was built there since 1924 . To the north of the Falkenberg, Bruno Taut built the garden city of Falkenberg from 1912, which , along with five other Berlin Modernist settlements, has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2008 .
The New Garden City of Falkenberg has been built on the west side of the hill since 2010 , mainly with condominiums. The street Am Falkenberg, which connects Altglienicke with Bohnsdorf and Grünau, is named after the mountain.
Others
The Buntzel-Ranch is located on the Falkenberg , a small, fenced-in area where events such as the Bohnsdorf Easter bonfire or harvest festival take place on a regular basis. In addition, the Falkenberg is bordered by the Buntzelberg sports field , home of the Grünauer BC 1917 football club .
