Falkenhagen is now part of the town of Falkensee in the Havelland district in Brandenburg . In this district there are numerous residential properties built with villas, a monument in Kantstrasse and, since 1995, the Malagasy embassy .

history

Falkenhagen was first mentioned in a document in 1336. The early history of Falkenhagen is almost limited to major fires: on April 12, 1676, the entire community burned down. In 1806 the northern part burned down almost completely. And in 1822 there was also a fire in Falkenhagen, only four houses and the church were spared. There were always minor fires. For this reason, the history of the place, written on paper and sooner or later burned, is partly in the dark.

Village church

The Falkenhagener See belonged to the Ribbeck family until 1919 , who became known far beyond Brandenburg through the stories of Theodor Fontane . Falkenhagen himself is also mentioned in Fontane's stories.

However, the community later bought the lake back. A windmill stood on the slope of the lake.

In 1923 Falkenhagen was merged with the neighboring Seegefeld and the municipality and today's city of Falkensee was created. The lake kept its name and marks the district.

An excursion restaurant was built on the shore in the 1950s, which was called Zum Seeblick until 1991 . After that, Italians bought the property and called it Quo vadis . An original gondola was purchased as an attraction, and gondola tours were held on the lake if pre-ordered. After further changes of ownership, the inn came back into German ownership in 2009 and was given the historic name Seeterrassen back. In the neighborhood is the small Falkenhagener See, created as a bathing lake and connected to the large lake.
