Falloch is a British band from Glasgow , Scotland , whose style is attributed to the Blackgaze . The band's music is borrowed from post rock , folk and black metal .

Her debut album Where Distant Spirits Remain received a consistently positive response from the trade press.

The name Falloch is taken from the waterfall of the same name at the inflow to Loch Lomond and is intended to refer to the musicians' source of inspiration.

history

After Andy Marshall and Scott McLean had already gained experience together in different bands, they stopped working on other projects and founded Falloch. The debut album Where Distant Spirits Remain was recorded and produced entirely under their own direction in McLean's garage. King Crimson producer Ronan Chris Murphy was only responsible for the mastering . The contact to various labels finally resulted in a contract with Candlelight Records and enabled the band to gain international reception. Since the first appearances in November 2011, Ben Brown on bass and Steve Scott on drums have completed the live line-up. On June 6, 2012 singer Andy Marshall announced his departure from the band for unknown reasons.

style

Stylistically, Falloch moves between folk , post rock and black metal . Everything lives from the atmosphere . Powerful riffs alternate with delicate flute and string parts. The mostly clean vocals do the rest and give the powerful sound a characteristic, fragile element. The references to the Scottish spheres are unmistakable.

According to their own statements, the band sees itself influenced by Alcest , Drudkh , Primordial and the Deftones .
