The False Point ( English for false tip ) is a headland of Clarence Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It is located as an extension of False Ridge 4 km north-northeast of Cape Bowles .
The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named them in 2018 based on the naming of the neighboring mountain ridge of the same name . This is named on the occasion of a navigation error by scientists from the British Joint Services Expedition to the Elephant Island Group (JSEEIG, 1976–1977).
