The Faminseln are located in the northwest of Raja Ampat

Fam is an island in the Halmahera Sea . It is the main island of the Faminseln , within the Raja Ampat archipelago, off the coast of New Guinea .

Fam lies in the center of the arch that the famines form. To the north are the islands of Penemu ( Groß-Fam , Fam Besar ) and Keroeo . South of the island of Fam are the islands of Manaru , Nokkor , Inus , Naffi , Ba , Fambemuk , Groß- and Kleinanau . Ambambee Island is just off Fam's northwest coast .

Places on the island of Fam are Fam on the south coast and Saukabu on the northeast coast. A third settlement lies between them. A road runs through the island and connects the villages with one another. There are three lakes in the northeast of the island. In the largest of them there is a small island.

Fam belongs to the district of West Waigeo Islands ( Waigeo Barat Kepulauan ) in the administrative district of Raja Ampat ( West Papua Province ).
