Fishing tower

The fishing tower in Malchin is a defense tower of the city wall that surrounded the city. Due to its height and the border location between the city and Pomerania, it served as a watchtower. It dates from the 15th century and was supplemented by a Renaissance gable in the second half of the 16th century . The building is a six-story brick building with a gable roof . The tower is around 35 meters high and was completely renovated in 1996. Although originally built as a defense tower, it takes its name from its later use as a prison ( fishing tower ).
