Fannyann Eddy (* 1974 ; † September 28, 2004 in Freetown ) was a human rights activist from Sierra Leone who campaigned for the rights of gays and lesbians in her home country and other African countries and was also active in other African countries.

She founded the Sierra Leone Lesbian and Gay Association (SLLGA), the first lesbian and gay association. In April 2004, she gave a speech to the UN Commission on Human Rights , which she described as "moving", complaining that the authorities in her home country, Sierra Leone, do not prosecute violence because of sexual orientation. Eddy was a member of the commission of the All Africa Rights Initiative (AARI) and the Namibian Coalition of African Lesbians (CAL).

Eddy was murdered on September 28, 2004. She was reportedly raped and mutilated previously. She left behind her nine-year-old son and partner Esther.

In June 2007 a foundation named after Eddy and Magnus Hirschfeld was established, the Hirschfeld-Eddy-Foundation , whose purpose is to support human rights work in favor of gays, lesbians, bisexuals and transgender people on a national and international level.
