Farah Ossouli ( Persian فرح اصولی; * 1953 in Zanjan ) is an Iranian painter and co-founder of the artist group DENA in which 12 female Iranian artists have come together. She has both American and Iranian citizenship.

Artistic work

Her works are generally based on classic Persian miniature painting. Thematically, her works are largely aligned with the works of the Persian poet Hafiz . She places her scenes in empty areas that are usually primed in monochrome shimmering colors. Night scenes are mostly shown in front of dark blue surfaces. The miniatures are surrounded by several delicate ornamental patterns in shades of blue, green, pink or ocher. They bundle the opposing elements and lead to the relatively large image formats.

Farah Ossouli is the wife of Khosrow Sinai , an Iranian director. Together with Gizella Varga Sinai , she founded the artist group DENA in 2001, in which 12 Iranian women painters have come together. The group has already had several international exhibitions, including a. Also in Germany.

In 1971 she obtained a diploma in painting from the Girl's School of Fine Arts in Tehran. She completed her studies in graphic design at the Faculty of Fine Arts of Tehran University in 1977 with a BA.
