Heľpa (1927-1948 Slovak "Helpa"; German Helpach an der Gran , Hungarian Helpa ) is a municipality in central Slovakia .
location
It is located in the Horehronské podolie basin on the banks of the Hron , at the foot of the Low Tatras in the north and the Muránska planina in the south, 24 km from Brezno . The main road I / 66 runs on the outskirts of the village and continues to the intersection with road I / 67 under the Vernár pass. The place has a station on the railway line Banská Bystrica - Červená Skala .
history
The place was in a 1549 Urbar the reign of Muráň first mentioned and was first of Vlachs settled. There is a Catholic Church of St. Mary in the village from 1806 in the late Baroque style.
