history
Sihla emerged in the first half of the 18th century as a settlement of the Bergkammer, around the glassworks founded in 1744, favored by quartz reserves and large forests. In 1762 a new glassworks was built, which the chamber leased for two years (initially for 100 florins , later 150 florins annually). The production mainly went to the Arar ( Mint Kremnitz , Laboratory in Schemnitz and others). In 1780 the name Sichla was recorded. In 1828 there were 22 houses and 182 inhabitants, all of whom were employed in forestry and in the glassworks, and a steam sawmill was built around the middle of the 19th century.
Until 1918 the place in Sohl County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or today Slovakia. The glassworks was closed during the First World War and has never been revived since. In 1928 a branch of the narrow-gauge Schwarzgranbahn was put into operation, which lasted until 1971.
