Veporské vrchy

The Veporské vrchy is a part of the Slovak Ore Mountains in the middle of Slovakia and thus part of the Inner Western Carpathians . It borders the Low Tatras over the Horehronské podolie valley landscape in the north, the Spišsko-gemerský kras (Spiš-Gemer-Karst) in the east, the Stolické vrchy (last two named part of the Slovak Ore Mountains) in the south, and the Poľana in the southwest the Zvolenská kotlina basin in the west. The highest point is the Fabova hoľa ( 1439  m nm ).

The mountain range is divided into four smaller geomorphological parts:

  • Fabova hora
  • Čierťaž
  • Sihlianska planina
  • Balocké vrchy

The eastern part of the mountain belongs to the Muránska planina National Park , the extreme western part to the Poľana Protected Landscape Area .

Tourist centers are z. B. in Osrblie , Brezno or Čierny Balog .
