The Čierny Hron is a 25.8 km long river in Slovakia and a left tributary of the Hron .
It rises in the Veporské vrchy mountains below the Sedmák mountain ( 1004 m nm ) near Sihla , at an altitude of about 935 m nm and flows first to the northeast, after the confluence with the right bank of the Rakytovo to the north. After leaving the forests, the Čierny Hron reaches the municipality of Čierny Balog , turns to the west and northwest and flows through the district Dobroč, where it includes the right bank Šaling and the left bank Brôtovo , and further through Pusté, Jánošovka, Jergov, Krám and Nový Junk. The left-hand Vydrovo flows into the river in Čierny Balog . In the further course the river meanders and takes in the most important inflow at the forest house U Jána , the left-hand Kamenistý potok . In Hronec there is the Osrblianka , also on the left , before the Čierny Hron flows into the Hron in Valaská .
The once widely ramified system of the Čiernohronská železnica (German Black Gran Railway ), a forest railway that is still operated as a museum railway between Vydrovo and Chvatimech via Čierny Balog and between Dobroč and Čierny Balog, ran through the valley of the Čierny Hron and the side valleys .
