Faranak Parto Azar (born September 19, 1988 in Shiraz ) is an Iranian mountain biker .

Life and career

Faranak Parto Azar has won the Iranian championship five times. In 2017 she took first place in Asia and 86th place in the world in the Cross Country discipline with 321 points. At the 2018 Asian Games , she finished fourth.

Parto Azar motivates Iranian women to get on bicycles and runs a bike group for women in her hometown. In the documentary “Free Riding Iran” by the two Swiss bikers Anita and Carolin Gehrig, she tells of the challenges as a biker in their country.
