Faris Ahmad Liam McReynolds (born November 12, 1977 in Dallas , Texas ) is an American painter and musician .

McReynolds lives in Los Angeles . His pictures have been shown in Tokyo, Los Angeles, New York, Berlin, Padua and Antwerp, also in numerous solo exhibitions. Reports of his work have been published in Details , Art Papers , Tema Celeste , Flash Art Magazine, and Art Week .

McReynolds grew up as the son of an Indian woman and an American in Richardson , a suburb of Dallas. He spent his childhood alternating between Texas and Bombay and appeared in a Bollywood film called Shahadat at the age of eight (he is the nephew of actors Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab) . In 2000 he received his BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) from Otis College of Arts and Design in Los Angeles. He started showing his paintings to the public at the age of 21.

Stylistically, McReynold's current painting seems to be strongly influenced by French Impressionism and Post-Impressionism , the work of Richard Prince and Sherrie Levine from the 1980s, Andy Warhol's pictures of catastrophes, and Francis Bacon . His brushwork ranges from expressive impasto to delicate watercolor. Most of his paintings are completed in a single session to capture the immediate action. Instead of documenting real events, he turns his attention to the theatrical pictorial symbolism inherent in comedy and tragedy.
